I live in Florida and 99% of the time I am either barefoot or in flip flops.  That usually does not make for pretty feet.  More often then not, I struggle with very dry skin and cracked heels. I do not usually have the time or resources to get regular pedicures, so I tend to love at home spa treatments for my feet. I have tried many different foot peels over the years, but I think I finally found my favorite! If you are not familiar with foot peels, they are treatments that are designed to break down the outer layers of hard dead skin, jump starting a peeling process that then encourages new skin cells to form.  (Most at home foot peels contain an alpha hydroxy acid solution.)  If you have not done a foot peel before, WARNING!, you will have up to 2 weeks of dead skin peeling away.  I often joke with my family that during a foot peel, I look like a reptile shedding its skin and feel like someone who has leprosy.  It is not pretty!!!  However, at the end of that stage, you will feel like Ariel in the Little Mermaid looking at new feet!

As said before, I have tried many foot peels before. The goal is to shed the dead skin and leave your feet feeling new and refreshed. With all foot peels, the results will vary depending on how dry and damaged the skin on your feet actually is. Other brands I have tried, have actually left my feel feeling even more dry then they were before doing the peel.  Some have shed the skin in tiny fragments making it appear as though I have a trail of dandruff coming from my feet. With the TONYMOLY Shiny Foot peel though, this was the first one that I actually felt like I had new feet.  As gross and TMI as this may be, using this peel, my skin peeled off in larger pieces, similar to a bad sunburn (No, my feet were not burned by this product). They also include a pack of their very own foot cream to use immediately after the peel to seal in moisture, which I love! I wish you could purchase a full size bottle of this cream to continuously use afterwards, but I will give you options about this in my tips below.

Here are some facts straight from TONYMOLY about this product:

Ingredients such as AHA  and BHA help remove excessive foot calluses, and peppermint extract, argan oil and lavender relieves stress while keeping feet moisturized and smooth.

KEY INGREDIENTS

• Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid - Provide gentle exfoliation, help reveal softer, smoother skin, and support natural cell turnover
• Lavender Extract - Soothes inflamed/irritated skin while helping reduce skin blotchiness for a more even look.
• Argan Oil - Nourishes and protects, locking moisture in.
• Peppermint Extract - Soothes and refreshes

Here are some instructions on how to use it in English, as a lot of times the instructions will be in Korean when you receive it:

1. Place the plastic booties around each foot. Pour and distribute the peeling liquid in each booty equally.
2. Tie the plastic booties with ties located at top of boot so there are no gaps.
3. Wait approximately 1-1.5 hours. Try to avoid walking while waiting.
4. Remove plastic booties (preferably inside the shower or tub to avoid any potential spillage) and discard.Thoroughly rinse off with cool water.
5. In about 4-6 days, the sole of your feet (calluses) will begin to peel away. You do not have to forcefully peel the skin, just let it roll off naturally.
6. You will have feet as soft as a baby in just 2 weeks!

And finally, here are some of my personal tips to get the best results from using this foot peel:

• Soak your feet in warm water for approx 10-15 minutes before putting the plastic booties on.
• When you take a shower/bath, try to soak your feet in warm water for about 5 minutes each time.  If you do this every day, you will have the best results. 
• Wash your feet in the shower with an exfoliating soap. 
• Use a super moisturizing foot or hand cream every day on your feet.  I personally like using cocoa butter or TONYMOLY also carries amazing hand creams in the shape of whatever fruit they smell like (peach, banana, mango, apple). These creams are super moisturizing and work amazing!
• After the peeling stops and your left with fresh looking feet, maintain it with a moisturizing foot mask.  Again, I recommend the Peach Foot Mask from TONYMOLY (Can you tell I love TONYMOLY Products?  LOL.  In all seriousness they offer amazing products at affordable prices)

WHY ARE WE SO ADDICTED?

Through the magic that is social media, I was seeing more and more hype about Korean and Asian Beauty Products.   So before our last trip to NYC, I decided to do some research on products and then try to see what we could find in the Big Apple! Considering NYC has a lot more culture than what we have at home (we live in the Daytona Beach area of FL), we felt this was the perfect time to dive in. With the research before our trip, Lillie and I were both already hooked!   We both are suckers for fun at home spa treatments or anything that makes us feel good and look good.  So many products are out there with different and exotic ingredients (snail serum, bee venom, eggs, and more!), and let's not forget the adorable packaging!

While in NYC, between Chinatown and Koreatown, we visited A LOT (Poor guys with us, they were such troopers!) of Asian and Korean Specific Beauty stores. Some, we admit, we got looks for entering LOL. We actually went into one store (will not name) in Chinatown where they spoke no English and would not even consider us a customer! Their loss, oh well.  Other stores, their sales clerks were so friendly and eager to help us learn more about this industry and all of the products!!!   Many of these stores, I plan to share with you in upcoming articles, as you can order straight from them on their websites!!!  One in particular, I even ordered from just a couple weeks after we got back!

Have you ever noticed how dewy and young Korean Women all appear? They take superior care of their skin! Skin care in their culture is so important, that toddler facials are a real thing!  Believe it or not, many families have a family facialist they start seeing at a young age. Sunscreen is of utmost importance and falling asleep with your makeup on is a huge no-no! (Yah, thats a bad habit I need to break ASAP!) Their products tend to focus on natural ingredients and they stay away from the harsh chemicals many of our products tend to use so much of. They also tend to be extremely innovative and start the trends long before the major skin care and makeup companies catch on. Also ,you know how in many of our cities there is a coffee shop on every corner? Well, over there they have a beauty store on every corner! This also makes for a very competitive market and lower prices on many of their products! This makes it easier for them to stick to their 10-15 step beauty regimen!   Yep, you read that right!  That's OK, do not get to overwhelmed by that number!  That is one of our goals in creating this blog. We hope to not only help you navigate and explore this amazing industry, but we want to bring to you our favorite products that we hope to stay budget friendly too!
